Gotta love Craigslist...
Another crazy Craigslist deal, this time from Aurora, Colorado. This 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo has just over 115,000 miles. It has an attractive color combination with red exterior and black leather interior. Plus a manual transmission and FULL set of service records.
Some background on the 944 Turbo
While the 944 generally lags its Porsche brethren in collectability, the turbo model is the exception. Produced from 1985 to 1991, the 944 Turbo featured performance similar to the base 911. It also had a more aerodynamic body kit, 911 brakes, and an upgraded suspension. In total there were 13,982 turbos exported to the United States. Many of these cars were converted to track cars and abused. Thus, the number of clean examples is much lower.
The price is right
According to Hagarty the average 1986 944 Turbo sells for over $13,000. A search on Auto Trader reveals there is only one Porsche 944 Turbo in the country that costs less (and it has body damage). Comparable examples seem to be selling for around $15,000.
A few things to fix
31 year-old cars are rarely perfect and this car is no exception. The new owner will need to replace the gear in the tachometer and the AC compressor. There is also apparently a small crack in the windshield.
